French Minister of Foreign Affairs visits Ireland

(JPEG)

Dominique de Villepin, French Minister of Foreign Affairs, came to Dublin on Friday 30 January.

This visit, which came at a time when Ireland has taken over the Presidency of the EU, has afforded an opportunity to discuss current European and international questions together and to celebrate the especially close friendship between our two countries.

The minister met in turn with the Taoiseach Bertie Ahern T.D. and his Irish counterpart, Brian Cowen T.D. with whom he had a working luncheon followed by a press briefing.

In the afternoon, Mr de Villepin was received by Mary McAleese, President of Ireland. He also gave an interview to David McWilliams for Agenda which was broadcast on TV3 and delivered a speech at City Hall.
